How to take care of your hands and nails?

  • After reading our guide, you will know:

    - Hydrate and take care of your hands

    - Take perfect care of your nails

    - Choose natural products that are good for your skin

Wash your hands thoroughly and moisturize them regularly

Taking care of your hands means first and foremost adopting **good daily habits**. Always use a **natural cleanser** when washing your hands. It will **prevent dehydration** of your hands and nails. Also remember to **moisturize your hands regularly**. They are constantly **exposed to external aggressions**, the **skin barrier is often weakened** because the skin on the hands is very thin. Therefore, choose an **appropriate and natural cream**.

Nails, like hands, can become dehydrated and therefore break more easily. Nail hydration is essential for a perfect manicure. You can apply Charlotte Bio cream directly to your nails. It has been specially formulated to provide the necessary hydration for your hands and also for your nails.

Start by gently removing your nail polish. We say ciao! to those little remnants of the old manicure that we left there on the side because "it won't show, it'll come off on its own" ...

For this, opt for a natural nail polish remover rather than an acetone-based remover, which is far too aggressive for your nails. Just as effective as a conventional remover, Charlotte Bio's natural nail polish remover (bio-sourced, vegan & made in France, what more could you ask for?) will remove your nail polish without damaging your nails.

Come on, just a little more effort for a perfect manicure... There are 4 more steps:

Once your nails are clean, apply a base coat. By applying it, you allow your polish to last longer for a top-notch manicure! Apply the first coat of your nail polish, once you've chosen your favorite color... We understand that the choice can be complicated among our 18 shades but we trust you 💅 Apply a second coat of nail polish. Here again, the goal is for your manicure to last as long as possible. Might as well put all the chances on your side.

For a less intense effect, you can apply only one coat! Finish with a top coat to enhance your manicure! It will protect your polish from potential minor knocks and give a shiny effect to your nails.

A little tip, to continue on a good (ecological and natural) momentum, adopt vegan nail polishes made with natural ingredients. They will take care of your nails while enhancing them.

To gently shorten your nails, we recommend you to opt for a nail file rather than nail clippers. Much gentler, the file respects the fiber of your nails more. Avoid filing back and forth. It is better to start from one edge of the nail and bring the file towards the center depending on the shape you have chosen.

Repeat this action until the desired effect.

You'd want to say all the time, but that's not the right answer! At Charlotte Bio, hydration is very important. Dehydrated skin is not necessarily healthy. We therefore advise you to moisturize your skin morning and evening.

Drinking water regularly also contributes to beautiful skin, so get your water bottles ready!

Filing your nails according to the desired shape

How to file my nails square?

To get a square nail, mainly file the edges of the nail to form two straight lines. Finish by filing the tip of the nail until it aligns with the two sides. Your nail is thus perfectly square.

How to file my nails round?

For round nails, prefer filing in an arc. Start from one end then guide your file to the other end of the nail with a circular motion.

How to file my short nails?

If you have short nails, don't file your nail too many times; be efficient. Too many passes of the file on your nail could severely damage it. Be sure to place the file on the outer corner of the nail and then gently slide it to the center.

Filing your nails based on their nature

How do I file my brittle nails?

The longer your nails are, the more brittle and fragile they are. Always file your nails in the same direction . From left to right or vice versa, but never back and forth. Your nails risk splitting and becoming even more fragile. Choose a cardboard nail file, which is much less abrasive than metal or glass nail files.

How do I file my soft nails?

Same fight as for brittle nails, a soft nail is a nail that will become brittle if you do not take care of it . Adopt the right actions by taking care of your nail from its root. A nail needs to be hydrated to be healthy and grow normally. If these actions are really not enough (which can happen in people with sweaty hands who will have softer nails than normal), you can also use a hardener . Be careful though, make sure that this hardener is natural and that it will not impact the health of your nails.

We apologize in advance to those who love long nails, but this last tip might not be to your liking... Indeed, to avoid breakage, there's nothing better than cutting your nails short. They'll grow back stronger if you follow all our advice.

Achieving a natural manicure: Charlotte's team tips

Achieving a natural manicure seems simple, yet a few steps should not be overlooked. First, make sure you have thoroughly removed all traces of your previous manicureFile and hydrate your nails. Also, don't forget to hydrate your cuticles; if poorly cared for, they can quickly detract from your manicure and prevent the desired natural effect.

For a super natural effect, finish with a base coat for a more matte look. If you still want your girlfriend, colleague, or cousin to say "wow, your manicure is beautiful," opt for a top coat that will make your nails shine.

    nail and

    hand care? Our

    team has

    the answers!

Should you remove nail polish before applying new polish? keyboard_arrow_down
    add remove

Yes, it is essential to remove your nail polish . Nail polish will spread much more easily on a clean, well-cleaned nail. A poorly cleaned nail risks compromising the rest of your manicure.

Is top coat mandatory for a manicure? keyboard_arrow_down
    add remove

No, it is not mandatory either. Top coat has an aesthetic rather than protective function. It makes your nail shine by bringing out the beautiful color of the polish. It also helps to protect your manicure from minor impacts (you know, that little impact that happens right after you've finished your whole manicure 😭).

Is base coat mandatory for a manicure? keyboard_arrow_down
    add remove

Nothing is mandatory, rest assured! But we strongly advise you to use a base coat. It will have an impact on the longevity of your manicure and the health of your nails. The base protects the nail from pigments that could yellow your nails, as well as from certain substances that could weaken them.
